Abstract

ABSTRACT This research aims to determine the morphometric character of freshwater mussels and the relationship between length, thickness, weight and height values. This type of research is descriptive with a quantitative approach. The study was conducted on 6 different stations. The observation location is chosen based on the level of human activity. Sampling is carried out using the Hand collecting method. In this study using simple random sampling technique. Based on the results of morphometric research on freshwater mussels at each station, the dominant results were obtained, namely, including the category of large size with a value (>10cm) as many as 92 individuals, medium size (7-10cm) as many as 72 individuals and small size (4-7cm) as many as 21 individuals. The results of the calculation of the Relationship of Length and Weight, Relationship of Length and Height of the shell, and the Relationship of Length and thickness of the shell in freshwater mussels show that the growth pattern in freshwater mussels in Lake Sipin Jambi is negative allometric having a constant value of b>3. This shows that environmental conditions in Lake Sipin Jambi can affect the growth of shellfish so that the value of b becomes smaller.
