Abstract

This study discusses the pattern of recruitmen of female legislative candidates used by the Democratic Party of Jambi City. In this study, the recruitment process or mechanism and the criteria for legislative candidates set by the Democratic Party of Jambi City are explained. As well as discussing the efforts made by the Democratic Party to meet the 30% quota for women’s representation.This study uses qualitative methods through descriptive analysis to describe the pattern and rekruirment process used by the Jambi City Democratic Party in recruiting its candidates. Data collection techniques used through the interview process as primary data ang literature study as secondary data. While the theory used by the author is the theory of the Rush and Althoff recruitmen patterns and theory of criteria for legislative candidates by Katz and Crotty.This qualitative research proves that the recruitment patterns for female legislative candidates conducted by the Jambi City Democratic Party is semi-open, namely prioritizing its cadres first as an internal party. And after that provide and opportunity for candidates outside the Democratic Party of Jambi City.The results of this study indicate that the Democratic Party meets the 30% quota for women’s representation. The cadres who were elected as candidates actually met the set criteria. And the elected cadres are members of the Democtratic Party who have long joined the Party. With the experience and popularity they have, the women candidates for the Jambi City Democratic Party occupy more parlimentary seats.
