Abstract
The most common symptoms are fever, cough and shortness of breath. Pregnant women are prone to infection due to low body immunity. Pregnancy is often associated with a higher risk of COVID-19 severity when compared to non-pregnant people. Proper management of pregnant women with COVID-19 needs to be done. So that delivery becomes faster and neonatal outcomes are good. The purpose of this study was to determine the characteristics of neonates from pregnant women with COVID-19 at Raden Mattaher Hospital Jambi in 2020-2021. Methods: This research is a descriptive study using retrospective data. Data was taken using secondary data from the medical records of pregnant women with COVID-19 who were hospitalized at Raden Mattaher Hospital Jambi for the period 1 May 2020 – 31 December 2021. Results: The results showed that the highest percentage was in the age group 20- 34 years (82.1%), housewives (48.7%), high school/vocational high school education (53.8%), symptoms of shortness of breath (53.8%), symptomatic (71.8%), no comorbid disease (92.3%), no COVID-19 vaccine (87.2%), third trimester of pregnancy (87.2%), multigravida (64.1%), sectio caesaria (87.9%), term delivery (81.8%), maternal blood examination: normal hemoglobin (87.2%), normal hematocrit (84.6%), normal leukocytes (74.4%), normal platelets (82.1%), normal d-dimer (60%), normal hemoglobin (71.9%) neonatal blood tests: normal hematocrit (68.8%), normal leukocytes (68.8%), normal platelets (87.5%), female neonates (53.1%), AGA (90.6%), moderate birth weight (90.6%), no neonatal asphyxia (90.6%), no fetal distress (87.5%), five spontaneous abortions, one maternal death, one stillbirth. Conclusion: There was no association between the symptoms of COVID-19 in pregnant women with the type of delivery and gestational age at delivery, intrauterine growth status, birth weight, asphyxia, fetal distress, hemoglobin, hematocrit, leukocytes, and neonatal platelets.
