Abstract

Speaking is one of the skills that students in English learning must master. In the Indonesian context, where speaking is a foreign language, teaching and learning to speak is not as simple as it might seem. Both students and teachers face some challenges. One of them is reticence. Therefore this study aims to investigate the affecting factors of the students’ reticence in speaking class from the perspective of English teachers and the teachers’ strategies to deal with students’ reticence. This research utilized a qualitative case study design with a semi-structured interview as the data collecting technique.
