Abstract
Iccha Dhirdhena Prasadat Tungga Dewi, (2023) The Implementation of Authentic Assessment in Writing Lesson. Magister of English Language Education, Universitas Jambi. This research aims to find out The Implementation of Authentic Assessment in Writing Class and also problems faced by the writing lecturer in applying the authentic assessment It conducted in writing for general communication class in English education department of IAI Muhammad Azim Jambi. The researcher used qualitative research as the research design. To collect the data the researcher used interviews with the lecturer and the students and the documentation from the document related to the authentic assessment. The researcher found that: in the affective aspects. The teachers applied self- assessment and a journal. In the process of assessment the lecturer asked each student about their difficulties and what things they have understood. In the journal process the lecturer writes the students’ attitude and progress every meeting; knowledge aspect, the lecturer gives an assignment to the students. The assignment then assessed based on the scoring rubric based on the text learned. After that, the lecturer gave some review related to punctuation, features, and skill aspects. In the skill aspect the lecturer gave the video project that should be given the subtitle, after that it was assessed based on the text done based on it scoring rubrics.and then it will be reviewed by the lecturer. Besides, there are some problems for the lecturer in implementing it, those are: there is no guidance from the university how the assessment applied, limited time for implementing the authentic assessment in the classroom, and the students done the assignment using google translate so it will be hard for lecturer to track the authenticity of the writing result.
