Abstract
This research study aims to explore the students' perspective on Digital Storytelling (DST) as a means to enhance self-efficacy in speaking skills. The research focuses on understanding how students perceive DST as a strategy to improve their speaking abilities and examines the process of student autonomy within the DST framework. The study was conducted among 30 students enrolled in the English Study Program at Universitas Jambi, who had prior experience with DST learning methods. The research methodology employed a quantitative approach, utilizing a questionnaire as the primary data collection instrument. The questionnaire was designed to assess students' perceptions of DST in relation to self-efficacy in speaking skills. The findings of the study revealed that students held positive perceptions of DST as a tool to enhance their speaking skills. They expressed enjoyment in creating and sharing digital stories, and they believed that DST positively contributed to their speaking abilities. The study also highlighted the role of DST in promoting student autonomy and self-directed learning. Based on the research findings, it is suggested that educators and practitioners consider incorporating DST into the classroom as a means to enhance students' self-efficacy in speaking skills. The findings underscore the importance of providing students with engaging and interactive learning experiences, such as DST, to foster their confidence and proficiency in oral communication.
