Abstract

Batu silindris yang merupakan tipe megalitik yang mendominasi di dataran tinggi Merangin. Kemudian batu silindris juga menjadi objek utama di dalam penelitian ini, yang mana batu silindris ini tersebar di Desa Renah Kemumu, Dusun Tuo, Nilo Dingin, dan Rantau Suli. Adapun penelitian ini berfokus untuk dapat mengetahui bentuk-bentuk motif dan untuk mengetahui makna di balik motif antropomorfik yang terdapat pada megalitik tersebut. Penelitian ini melewati beberapa tahap, yaitu pengumpulan data, analisis, interpretasi, dan kesimpulan akhir. Metode pendeskripsian, analisis bentuk dan klasifikasi motif-motif pada megalitik dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode arkeologi dan metode pemaknaan dilakukan dengan metode semiotika Roland Barthes. Batu silindris yang berada di dataran tinggi Merangin memiliki motif yang beragam, namun motif antropomorfik merupakan motif yang mendominasi pada megalitik tersebut. Motif- motif ini dibuat sebagai komponen-komponen untuk menjalankan ritual kepada nenek moyang dan sebagai lambang tokoh leluhur yang mempunyai pengaruh kuat semasa hidupnya. Kata Kunci: Megalitik, Batu Silindris, Motif Antropomorfik, Dataran Tinggi Merangin Cylindrical stones which are the megalithic type, predominate in the Merangin Highlands. Thereupon, cylindrical stones also became the main object of the research, which are spread in Renah Kemumu Village, Dusun Tuo, Nilo dingin, and Rantau Suli. This research will focus on being able to find out the forms of motifs and to find out the meaning behind the anthropomorphic motifs found in these megaliths. The research is conducted by collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data, and final conclusions. The method of description, form analysis and classification of megalithic motifs are carried out using the archaeological method and then the meaning method is carried out by Roland Barthes's semiotic method. Cylindrical stones found in the Merangin highlands have various motifs, but anthropomorphic motifs are the dominating motifs on the megaliths. These motifs are made as components to carry out rituals to their ancestors and as symbols of ancestral figures who have had a strong influence throughout their lives.
