Abstract

Coffee is one of the leading commodities in the plantation sector as a contributor to the country's foreign exchange, a source of income for farmers and creates jobs that can boost the Indonesian economy. The development of Arabica coffee in Jambi Province has increased both in terms of area, production and productivity. As the plant ages, coffee productivity will also decrease/decrease coupled with the development of area expansion which continues to increase. Therefore it is necessary to prepare seeds to meet the needs for rejuvenation and for area expansion. This study aims to determine the effect of applying banana peel liquid organic fertilizer (POC) on the growth of Arabica coffee seedlings in several observed variables and to obtain the best concentration of POC application on the growth of Arabica coffee seedlings. This research was conducted using RAK (Randomized Block Design) with 5 treatment levels. The observed variables consisted of: seedling height, stem diameter, number of leaves, leaf area, shoot dry weight, root dry weight and root crown ratio. The results showed that the administration of POC banana peels with various concentrations could increase the growth of Arabica coffee seedlings in the variable number of leaves, leaf area, shoot dry weight and root canopy ratio, but had no effect on seedling height, stem diameter and root dry weight. Provision of POC banana peels with a concentration of 15% showed the best growth in Arabica coffee seedlings Keywords : Liquid Organic Fertilizer, Banana Peel, Seeds and Arabica Coffee
