Abstract

ABSTRAK Museum Sang Nila Utama merupakan museum daerah provinsi Riau yang terletak di Kota Pekanbaru dan menyimpan berbagai jenis koleksi, salah satunya adalah keramik Cina dengan motif yang sangat bervariasi. Pada database Museum Sang Nila Utama, kajian mengenai motif keramik Cina belum tercatat secara detail sehingga perlu dikaji untuk mengetahui variasi motif hias dan arti simbolis motif tersebut. Kajian mengenai motif hias penting untuk dilakukan karena motif keramik Cina tidak hanya sebagai elemen dekoratif tetapi juga memiliki arti simbolis. Untuk menjawab permasalahan tersebut, dilakukan observasi terhadap 37 sampel data primer yang mewakili 233 keramik Cina koleksi Museum Sang Nila Utama. Kemudian, analisis ragam hias digunakan untuk mengidentifikasi jenis motif dan arti simbolis. Hasil penelitian menemukan 6 jenis motif yang terdiri dari flora, fauna, geometris, simbol, figur, dan pemandangan. Motif flora terdiri dari bunga, tumbuh-tumbuhan dan buah, lalu motif fauna meliputi binatang dan binatang mitologi, kemudian motif geometris seperti pola diaper, dan garis-garis, selain itu terdapat motif simbol swastika dan Shuāngxĭ, adapun motif seperti figur berupa manusia pria dan wanita, dan yang terakhir motif pemandangan seperti daratan dan pegunungan. Motif-motif tersebut digunakan sebagai elemen dekoratif dan memiliki arti simbolis seperti umur panjang, kegembiraan, keberuntungan, cinta, nasib baik, kesucian, kekayaan, keabadian, kekuasaan, kekuatan, keindahan, musim semi, gugur, panas, dan dingin. Kata kunci: Motif, Keramik, Koleksi Museum, Museum Sang Nila Utama ABSTRACT The Sang Nila Utama Museum is a regional museum of Riau province which is located in Pekanbaru City. The museum has various types of collections, some of which are decorated Chinese ceramics with varied kind of motifs. Based on the Sang Nila Utama Museum database, the study of Chinese ceramic motifs has not been recorded in detail so the purpose of the research is to describe the variation of ornamental motifs and the symbolic meaning of these motifs. The study about decorative motifs is important because in Chinese ceramics, motifs are not only described as a decorative element but they might also contains symbolic meanings. To answer these problems, 37 samples of primary data have been chosen to be observed from 233 collections of decorated Chinese ceramics in the Sang Nila Utama Museum, followed by analysis to identify the motifs types and its symbolic meanings. The research results found 6 types of motifs which consist of flora, fauna, geometric, symbols, figures, and landscapes. The floral motifs consist of flowers, plants and fruit. Then, the fauna motifs are animals, and mythological animals. From the geometric motifs, there are seen motifs such as diaper patterns, and lines. There are also motifs related to symbols such as swastika and Shuāngxĭ. The other motifs such as figures illustrated in the form of male and female humans. For the last types, there are landscape motifs such as mountain view, and land scene. These motifs are used as a decorative element and have symbolic meanings thet represent longevity, joy, luck, love, good fortune, purity, wealth, immortality, strength, power, beauty, spring, autumn, summer and winter.
