Abstract

DAS (Daerah Aliran Sungai) Pengabuan merupakan salah satu sungai yang berperan bagi perkembangan kebudayaan selain DAS Batanghari di Provinsi Jambi. Penelitian ini berfokus untuk meninjau tinggalan arkeologis yang menjadi bukti jalur perdagangan kuno Kuala Tungkal – Muara Tebo serta peran kedua daerah tersebut di masa lalu. Tahapan penelitian yang dilakukan yaitu pengumpulan data melalui survei lapangan di sepanjang DAS, dilanjutkan dengan pengolahan dan analisis data berupa kontekstual dan etnografis. Berdasarkan hasil analisis selanjutnya dilakukan interpretasi dan penarikan kesimpulan yang menunjukkan bahwa jalur ini merupakan jalur alternatif yang digunakan untuk perdagangan dari hulu Sungai Batanghari menuju hilir melalui Sungai Pengabuan. Kata kunci : DAS, Jalur Alternatif, Kontekstual dan Etnografis. The Pengabuan watershed is one of the rivers that played a role in the development of culture besides the Batanghar watershed in Jambi Province. This research focuses on reviewing archaeological remains that are evidence of the ancient Kuala Tungkal-Muara Tebo trade route and the role of the two areas in the past. The research stages carried out were data collection through field surveys along the watershed, followed by data processing and analysis in the form of contextual and ethnographic. Based on the results of the analysis, interpretation and conclusions were drawn which showed that this route was an alternative route used for trade from the upper Batanghari River to the downstream through the Pengabuan River Keywords : Watershed, Alternative Routes, Contextual and Ethnographic.
