Abstract
Reading habits are an important aspect of language learning that can significantly influence students' ability to write recount texts. This study aims to know the correlation between students' reading habits and their ability to write English recount texts of eighth grade SMP 5 Muaro Jambi. This study used the Correlation Method, with a sample of 73 out of 84 students in the 2022/2023 academic year. This study used two research instruments, namely questionnaire and written tests. Correlation analysis was performed used Pearson Product Moment analysis. The findings of this study reveal a correlation coefficient of 0.994, falling within the range of 0.91-1.00, indicating a highly significant correlation. Thus, it can be concluded that reading habits and the ability to write recount texts show a high correlation. Students need to realize the importance of cultivating reading habits to improve their writing skills.
