Abstract
Kampus Mengajar program is part of a government program aims to provide opportunities for students to be able to develop themselves through outdoor activities lectures. One of the most important aspects of the following learning activities is motivation, with motivation learning can be easily gained. The purpose of this study is to discover the motivation of students of the English study program, Jambi university. The descriptive qualitative approach was employed in this study. The data was collected through an interview of six participants on students' motivation yield. These participants are English Department students at Jambi university who take part in the Kampus Mengajar program in batch 1 and batch 2 and also teach English in this program. All results interviews were then analyzed by going through 3 stages namely data reduction, data display, and drawing conclusion. There were eight questions referring to the theory adapted from Kong (2009). The results of the study found that there were nine English students' motivations in participating in the Kampus Mengajar program which would be divided into intrinsic and extrinsic motivations. These nine motivations are (i) To gain experiences, (ii) Improve the teaching skills, (iii) Improve the quality of learning in 3T school, (iv) Building relationship, (v) Counted one semester of lecturer or 20 SKS, (vi) A reduction in tuition fees, (vii) A monthly intensive Money, (viii) Obtain a certificate to add to their CV (curriculum vitae), and (ix) To teach the students for the basic English. The results of this study can be used as data initial for the next researcher in studying this problem in different contexts and issues.
