Eddy Pahar Harahap, M.Pd., (II) Oky Akbar, M.Pd., Gr. Kata Kunci: Norma Sosiokultural, Bahasa Batak Toba, dan Penutur Bahasa Batak Toba Penelitian ini termasuk kedalam penelitian kualitatif yang bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi dan mempelajari norma-norma sosiokultural yang berlaku pada penutur bahasa Batak Toba di Kota Jambi. Data pada penelitian ini diambil dari masyarakat penutur bahasa Batak Toba yang ada di Kota Jambi dengan metode pengambilan data melalui observasi partisipasif dan wawancara mendalam. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah analisis data situasi ujar yang mendukung tuturan dalam sebuah percakapan. Pada penelitian ini, peneliti sendiri bertindak sebagai perencana, pengumpul, penganalisis, dan pelapor hasil penelitian. Proses analisis data ini meliputi pengurangan, penyampaian, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Ketiga tugas berinteraksi satu sama lain, dimulai dengan pengumpulan data dan berakhir dengan penulisan laporan penelitian. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa adanya norma-norma sosiokultural pada penutur Bahasa Batak Toba di Kota Jambi yang terbagi menjadi tiga bagian, yaitu (1) Norma Sosiokultural Interaksi. Norma sosiokultural interaksi juga memiliki lima bagian a) Memberikan Kesempatan Lawan Tutur untuk Ganti Berbicara, b) Menunjukkan Sikap Simpatik Terhadap Pembicaraan Lawan Tutur, c) Jangan Memotong Pembicaraan Lawan tutur sebelum selesai berbicara, d) Meminta Maaf Jika Tidak Dapat memenuhi apa yang diinginkan Lawan Tutur, dan e) Mengucapkan Terima Kasih Kepada Lawan Tutur yang Telah Memberi Perhatian dan Pelayanan terhadap Kita. (2) Norma sosiokultural Interpretasi, dimana norma ini terbagi menjadi tiga bagian yaitu: a) Sikap dan gestur tubuh seseorang seperti posisi badan, tangan, wajah serta pandangan mata, b) Perihal menanyakan pekerjaan, perkawinan, Usia dan Status Sosial, dan c) Jarak antara penutur dan lawan tutur. (3) Bagaimana norma-norma sosiokultural dalam transformasi budaya berkomunikasi pada masyarakat penutur bahasa Batak Toba. Simarmata, D. A. Y. 2023. Keywords: Sociocultural Norms, Toba Batak Language, and Toba Batak Language Speakers This research is included in qualitative research which aims to identify and study the sociocultural norms that apply to Toba Batak language speakers in Jambi City. The data in this research was taken from the Batak Toba speaking community in Jambi City using data collection methods through participant observation and in-depth interviews. The data analysis technique used is analysis of speech situation data that supports speech in a conversation. In this research, the researcher himself acted as a planner, collector, analyzer and reporter of research results. The data analysis process includes reduction, delivery and drawing conclusions. The three tasks interact with each other, starting with data collection and ending with writing a research report. The results of the research show that there are sociocultural norms among Toba Batak language speakers in Jambi City which are divided into three parts, namely (1) Sociocultural Interaction Norms. Sociocultural norms of interaction also have five parts: a) Give the interlocutor the opportunity to change to speak, b) Show a sympathetic attitude towards the interlocutor's conversation, c) Don't interrupt the interlocutor's conversation before he has finished speaking, d) Apologize if you cannot fulfill what the interlocutor wants Speech, and e) Saying Thank You to the Opponent Who Has Given Attention and Service to Us. (2) Sociocultural norms of interpretation, where these norms are divided into three parts, namely: a) A person's body attitudes and gestures such as body position, hands, face and eye gaze, b) Concerning questions about work, marriage, age and social status, and c) Concerning questions about work, marriage, age and social status, and c) The distance between the speaker and the interlocutor. (3) How are sociocultural norms in the transformation of communication culture in Toba Batak language speaking communities.
