Abstract

Currently, UMKM play an important role in helping the country's economy, because it is very important to register trademarks on UMKM, so that UMKM brands can get legal protection. This study aims to determine and analyze the factors that Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (UMKM) do not register their trademarks and to find out how the government's efforts to provide protection for the importance of registering Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (UMKM) trademarks in Jambi City. The formulation of the problem in this study 1). What are the factors that cause Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (UMKM) in the city of Jambi not to register their trademarks. 2). How are the efforts of the government to provide protection against the importance of trademark registration in Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (UMKM) in the city of Jambi. The research method used is empirical juridical juridical, or it can also be called sociological legal research and can also be called field research, namely studying and reviewing applicable legal provisions and what is happening in society. The research location that the researchers examined was Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (UMKM) in Jambi City. The results of this study indicate that there are several factors that cause UMKM in the city of Jambi not to register their trademarks, lack of knowledge about the importance of a brand, and the ways and procedures in registering a brand. UMKM actors do not know that UMKM brands with products in the form of services can be registered. The government has made many efforts in providing protection for trademark registration, especially for UMKM through routine socialization regarding the importance of registering a trademark.
