Abstract

Any company that employs workers is required to preserue its employees with personal protective equipment (PPE). Personal protective equipment is a set of tools used to protect body from potential hazards both chemical, biological, radiation, physical, electrical, mechanical and so on in accordance with the nature of the work and the potential hazards it can cause. This study is intended to describe the use of PPE in PT. Agrowiyana and analyze the factors that influence the decision of employees to use PPE. This research is an analytical research through a cross sectional approach. Data analysis was carried out using Non-Parametric statistics, namely the Chi-Square Test. Sampling in this study were 60 employees. The results of statistical analysis show that the majority (57%) of employees' knowledge about the use of PPE is still low, but employees with a positive attitude was high (95%), and good actions was shown by 57% of total respondent, and the use of incomplete PPE was 70%. The results of the chi square test found that there was no relationship between attitudes and actions with the use of PPE with p values of 0.80 and 0.30, but relationship between knowledge and the level use of PPE with was significant with p-values of 0.01. It can be concluded that there is a relationship between knowledge and the use of PPE, on the other hand there is no relationship between attitudes and actions with the use of PPE.
