Abstract

ABSTRACT Yusva Emilia, 2023. English Language Teachers’ on Media Technology (laptop, LCD projector, smartphone and speaker) in Teaching English at SMP N 16 Jambi. Thesis English Education Program Faculty of Teacher Training and Education of Jambi University in Academic Year 2023/2024. The first advisor Prof. Amirul Mukminin, S.Pd., M.Sc. ED., Ph.D. the second advisor Dr. Dra. Yelia., M.Pd. Keywords: English Language Teacher Perceptions, Media Technology, in Teaching English. This research to find out (1) Kinds of media technology used by teacher in teaching English; (2) English teachers’ perception on media technology in teaching English. The data were conducted on September 2023 from 3 teachers of seven, eighth and nine grade students at SMP N 16 Jambi from three classes. The subject was the teacher from those schools who had approximately five years teaching experience in that school and had broad knowledge about media technology. The researcher used descriptive qualitative method through interview in order to gain depth perception toward it from the teachers. The findings of this research showed that the kinds of media technology used by teacher in teaching English were laptop, LCD Projector, smartphone and speaker. The result of the teacher to explore teachers’ perceptions of integrating technology into English language instruction. The study revealed that teachers are increasingly incorporating technology into their classrooms and are discerning about which technology can enhance the language learning process. The research focused on understanding teachers’ perception on media technology to support language learning at SMP N 16 Jambi. Three English teachers participated in semi-structured interviews to gather their perceptions on media technology in the classroom. The findings indicated that teachers see media technology as a means to engage students, as a teaching tool, and as a way to simplify their work.
