Abstract
ABSTRAK Latar Belakang : Setiap anak tunagrahita perlu untuk diberikan jenis-jenis pengajaran khususnya bina diri, hal ini dikarenakan adanya indikasi rasa takut dan belum percaya dari orang terdekat agar timbul kebiasaan dan perilaku mandiri dalam pengimplementasian toileting yang diakibatkan oleh pengetahuan, pengalaman, pola asuh, serta dukungan moral material yang kurang tepat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi dan menginterpretasikan gambaran kebiasaan dan perilaku penggunaan toilet pada anak tunagrahita di SLB Negeri 1 Kota Jambi tahun 2023. Metode : Metode penelitian kualitatif, dengan rancangan studi kasus. Informan sebanyak 16 orang dengan rincian 12 informan kunci, 3 informan pendukung, 1 informan tambahan, pengumpulan data menggunakan wawancara mendalam jenis bebas terpimpin. Analisis menggunakan aplikasi Nvivo. Hasil : Informan dari berbagai jenjang pendidikan telah merencanakan pengadaan toileting, namun rencana tersebut belum terlaksana karena adanya kurikulum merdeka. Mereka memiliki pengetahuan tentang pengalaman baik dan buruk terkait toileting, termasuk mengenal kapan anak-anak mau ke toilet, respon anak seperti mengatakan "capek" dan buang air di celana, orang tua mengajarkan pola asuh secara sabar dan perlahan. Orang tua merawat dan mengurus anak-anak sesuai kemampuan mereka, sementara sebagian anak sudah mampu pergi ke toilet secara mandiri. Dukungan material diberikan sesuai kebutuhan anak, seperti pemberian pendidikan dan terapi, sementara dukungan moral meliputi memandikan dan membantu anak dalam memakai pakaian. Kesimpulan : Kemandirian pada aspek bina diri khususnya ke toilet sangat berpengaruh terhadap kesehatan anak tunagrahita, diharapkan adanya kerja sama dengan pihak sekolah khususnya guru dengan memberikan pembelajaran untuk keberhasilan proses belajar bina diri berupa pelatihan toilet dengan tujuan meningkatkan keterampilan buang air secara mandiri. This research aims to identify and interpret descriptions of toilet usage habits and behavior among mentally retarded children at SLB Negeri 1 Jambi City in 2023. Method: Qualitative research method, with a case study design. There were 16 informants with details of 12 key informants, 3 supporting informants, 1 additional informant, data collection used free guided in-depth interviews. Analysis using the qualitative-based application Nvivo. Results: Informants from various levels of education have planned to provide toilet training, but this plan has not been implemented because of the independent curriculum. They have knowledge about good and bad experiences related to toilet training, including knowing when children want to go to the toilet, children's responses such as saying "tired" and peeing in their pants, as well as implementing patient and slow parenting. Parents care for and take care of their children according to their abilities, while some children are able to go to the toilet independently. Moral support is provided according to the child's needs, such as providing education and therapy, while moral support includes bathing and helping the child wear clothes. Conclusion: Independence in the aspect of self-development, especially when going to the toilet, has a big influence on the health of mentally retarded children, for this reason there is a need to collaborate with the school, especially teachers, by providing lessons for the success of the self-development learning process in the form of toilet training with the aim of improving independent toileting skills.
