Abstract
The development of upland rice in dry land is an alternative for food procurement in the future, because many irrigated paddy fields are converted for non-agricultural purposes. The fertility level of dry land is generally low, with the following characteristics: low organic matter content and low NPK nutrient content. The growth of upland rice is directly influenced by environmental factors. In contrast to paddy rice, the growing environment and soil conditions do not change because there is no standing water. As a result, there are various pressures or stress due to drought, poisoning such as Al in acid soils and various diseases, including blast disease. Therefore, one way to increase the production of upland rice on dry land is to improve fertilization, especially nitrogen, phosphoric and potassium fertilizers for several strains or genotypes of upland rice which are resistant to blast and Al poisoning. The research activities included: (1) Development of superior upland rice plants through crosses between selected national and local superior varieties (2) Testing the response of superior lines and varieties of upland rice that had different genetic diversity to the application of various combinations of NPK fertilizers. The study used a randomized block design with a Split Plot pattern and repeated 2 repetitions. The first factor was the dosage of NPK fertilizer consisting of 7 treatment levels: P0 = without NPK fertilizer; P1 = 45 kg N/ha + 36 kg P2O5 + 120 kg K2O/ha ; P2 = 45 kg N/ha + 72 kg P2O5 + 60 kg K2O/ha ; P3 = 90 kg N/ha + 36 kg P2O5 + 120 kg K2O/ha ; P4 = 90 kg N/ha + 72 kg P2O5 + 60 kg K2O/ha ; P5 = 135 kg N/ha + 36 kg P2O5 + 120 kg K2O/ha ; and P6 = 135 kg N/ha + 72 Kg P2O5 + 60 kg K2O/ha. Factor II was 9 upland rice lines consisting of 4 (four) upland rice lines/varieties, namely var. Seni Mas (V2) and var. Tanjung Arts (V3) from Kab. Sarolangun, var. Bungin Arts (V4) from Kab. Merangin as well as var. Long Grouse (V5) from the district. tebo ; The 4 strains/varieties of the upland rice were the result of crosses with var. limboto and 1 superior variety namely var. Limboto as control. From the results of observations and discussion it can be concluded that: (1). Upland rice plant local variety from Jambi province var. Seni Mas, Seni Tanjung, Seni Bungin and Sungut Panjang and 4 of their crosses with var. limboto superior varieties (4 hybrid varieties) still showed a higher average plant height compared to limboto superior varieties. (2). In the fertilization treatment, all upland rice var. local and crosses gave different responses to the NPK fertilization combination treatment. (3). The combination treatment of NPK at a dose of 45 kg N/ha with various doses of P and K was significantly able to increase growth and yield the highest in all tested upland rice varieties (high yielding, local and hybrid).
