Abstract
Education is a process of change that occurs throughout life and applies to everyone. The government and regional governments guarantee the implementation of compulsory education at the minimum basic education level without charging fees. Compulsory education is the responsibility of the State which is carried out by educational institutions, government and society. The existence of this government policy should be able to ease the burden on parents to send their children to school until graduation. However, up to now of course it cannot be denied that the problem of dropping out of school still occurs in Indonesia. This research describes and analyzes the role of the East Tanjung Jabung regional government in dealing with cases of children dropping out of school that occur in Kampong Laut sub-district, Kuala Jambi sub-district. The theory used in this research is the Policy Implementation theory pioneered by Edward III where the success of a program is seen from 4 indicators, namely communication, resources, disposition and bureaucratic structure. The research results show that there are 5 roles of local government in dealing with cases of children dropping out of school that occur in Kampong Laut sub-district, Kuala Jambi sub-district, namely: (1) Foster Family Program (PKA), (2) Providing Scholarships, (3) CSR Assistance Program (4 ) Poor Student Assistance (BSM) (5) Completion of 12 Years of Compulsory Education.
