Abstract

Penelitian ini menganalisis strategi penerjemahan kata-kata slang dalam film musim pertama Prison Break. Metode campuran digunakan untuk mengkaji penelitian ini. Strategi penerjemahan yang digunakan penulis didasarkan pada teori Mona Baker. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa ada tujuh strategi yang digunakan penerjemah untuk menerjemahkan kata-kata slang bahasa Inggris ke dalam teks bahasa Indonesia. Peneliti menggunakan beberapa kamus online untuk mengetahui arti dari ungkapan slang tersebut. Jenis strategi penerjemahan yang paling umum adalah penerjemahan dengan parafrase menggunakan kata-kata yang tidak berkaitan dengan 23 sumber. Dilanjutkan dengan penerjemahan menggunakan kata terkait 16 sumber, kata yang lebih umum, kata yang kurang ekspresif, dan penerjemahan menggunakan kata serapan satu sumber. This study analysed translation strategies of slang words in Prison Break's first-season movie. A mixed method was used to examine this research. The translation strategies used by the writer are based on Mona Baker’s theory. The result of this study shows that there are seven strategies that the translator used to translate English slang words into Indonesian subtitles. The researcher used some online dictionaries to find out the meaning of the slang expression. The most common type of translation strategy is a translation by paraphrasing using unrelated words with 23 sources. They were followed by translation using a related word 16 sources, a more general word, a less expressive word, and translation using a loan word one source.
