Abstract
Mentimun (Cucumis sativus L.) menjadi salah satu komoditas hortikultura yang potensial dibudidayakan untuk memenuhi kebutuhan masyarakat. Produktivitas mentimun di Provinsi Jambi tergolong rendah dibandingkan dengan potensi hasil mentimun, hal ini menunjukkan bahwa terdapat kendala dalam budidaya mentimun. Salah satu kendala dalam upaya peningkatan produktivitas mentimun yaitu adanya serangan Diaphania indica Saunders. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penanaman tumbuhan berbunga terhadap kelimpahan populasi dan tingkat serangan D. indica pada tanaman mentimun. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di Kebun Percobaan dan Laboratorium Hama Tanaman Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Jambi selama 3 bulan, pada bulan Maret sampai bulan Juni 2023. Dua perlakuan yang dibandingkan pada penelitian ini yaitu monokultur mentimun dan mentimun + tumbuhan berbunga (Zinnia elegans dan Tagetes erecta), masing-masing menempati lahan seluas 11 m x 8 m untuk setiap petak percobaan. Variabel yang diamati meliputi populasi hama, persentase daun terserang, intensitas serangan, persentase buah terserang, jenis dan populasi musuh alami D. indica dan produksi mentimun. Data dari seluruh variabel yang diperoleh dianalisis menggunakan uji t, sedangkan data jenis dan populasi musuh alami disajikan secara deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa populasi hama, persentase daun terserang, intensitas serangan, persentase buah terserang lebih tinggi pada perlakuan monokultur mentimun dibandingkan dengan perlakuan mentimun + tumbuhan berbunga. Keberadaan tumbuhan berbunga meningkatkan populasi musuh alami D. indica dan produksi mentimun lebih tinggi pada perlakuan mentimun + tumbuhan berbunga dibandingkan perlakuan monokultur mentimun Cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.) is one of the potential horticultural commodities cultivated to meet the needs of the community. Cucumber productivity in Jambi Province is low compared to the potential yield of cucumber, this shows that there are obstacles in cucumber cultivation. One of the obstacles in efforts to increase cucumber productivity is the attack of Diaphania indica Saunders. This study aims to determine the effect of planting flowering plants on population abundance and the level of D. indica attack on cucumber plants. The research was conducted at the Research Farm and Pest Laboratory of the Faculty of Agriculture, Jambi University for 3 months, from March to June 2023. Two treatments were compared in this study, namely cucumber monoculture and cucumber + flowering plants (Zinnia elegans and Tagetes erecta), each occupying an area of 11 m x 8 m for each experimental plot. Variables observed included pest population, percentage of infested leaves, intensity of infestation, percentage of infested fruits, types and populations of natural enemies of D. indica and cucumber production. Data from all variables obtained were analyzed using t-test, while data on the type and population of natural enemies were presented descriptively. The results showed that the pest population, percentage of infested leaves, intensity of attack, percentage of infested fruits were higher in the cucumber monoculture treatment compared to the cucumber + flowering plant treatment. The presence of flowering plants increased the population of natural enemies of D. indica and cucumber production was higher in the cucumber + flowering plant treatment compared to the cucumber monoculture treatment.
