Abstract
An investigation to study the effect of exogenous growth regulators on Guichenotia macrantha tissue culture had been conducted at the Plant Science Laboratory, Victorian College of Agriculture and Horticulture, Melbourne, from January to October 1994. Two factors were investigated, ie. IAA (0.00, 0.57, 2.85, 5.71µm) and BAP (0.00, 2.22, 4.44, 8.88µm). The results indicated that BAP significantly increased the percentage of transferable explants and the average production of microcuttings. Meanwhile, neither IAA nor its interaction with BAP show a significant effect on these two parameters. Root proliferation occurred only on 10% of explants treated with 2.85µm IAA on the second subculture. At the rooting stage, the percentage of explants forming roots varied from 15.79 to 46.16% on either IAA and/or BAP treatments. The percentage of explants which survived acclimatisation ranged between 80 and 100%.
