Abstract
Latar Belakang : Minyak atsiri dari kulit jeruk purut (Citrus hystrix DC) telah terbukti memiliki sifat antioksidan, hal ini ditandai dengan nilai IC50 sebesar 23.4182 ppm, yang membuatnya cocok untuk digunakan dalam formulasi krim. Karakteristik fisik krim dapat dipengaruhi oleh jenis emulgator yang digunakan, salah satunya asam stearat dan trietanolamin. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui variasi konsentrasi asam stearat dan trietanolamin dalam formulasi krim, menentukan konsentrasi optimal asam stearat dan trietanolamin yang menghasilkan formula optimum, serta menentukan nilai SPF (sun Protection Factor) dari minyak atsiri kulit jeruk purut dan formula krim optimal yang dihasilkan. Metode : Penelitian ini melibatkan optimasi formulasi krim dengan memvariasikan proporsi asam stearat (antara 15% hingga 17%) dan trietanolamin (antara 2% hingga 4%) menggunakan metode simplex lattice design (SLD), sehingga didapatkan hasil 8 formula yang kemudian diuji untuk sifat fisiknya, termasuk organoleptis, homogenitas, pH, daya sebar, daya lekat, viskositas, dan tipe krim. Formula optimal ditentukan berdasarkan respon pH, viskositas, daya sebar dan daya lekat dengan target nilai desirability mendekati 1. Formula optimal yang diperoleh selanjutnya ditentukan nilai SPF (sun Protection Factor). Hasil : Pengujian terhadap kedelapan formula memiliki nilai respon Ph 6,39-7,8, viskositas 28440-50000 cP, daya sebar 5,3-6,7 cm dan daya lekat 7,46-18,02 detik. Adapun pengujian nilai SPF minyak atsiri kulit jeruk purut didapatkan nilai SPF 10,330 sedangkan nilai SPF dari krim optimum adalah 33,074. Kesimpulan : Konsentrasi emulgator optimal dengan perbandingan asam stearat sebesar 15% dan trietanolamin sebesar 4% mampu meningkatkan nilai SPF (sun Protection Factor) pada sediaan krim tersebut. Background : Essential oil from kaffir lime peel (Citrus hystrix DC) has been proven as antioxidant agent, with an IC50 value of 23.4182 ppm, making it suitable in cream formulations. The physical characteristics of the cream can be influenced by of emulsifier such as stearic acid and triethanolamine. The aim of this research was to determined effect of stearic acid and triethanolamine concentrations in cream formulations, determined the optimal concentrations of stearic acid and triethanolamine and cakulated the SPF SPF (Sun Protection Factor) value of kaffir lime peel essential oil and optimal cream formulating. Method : This research was optimized cream formulations by varying the proportions of stearic acid (15% to 17%) and triethanolamine (2% to 4%) used simplex lattice design (SLD) method. Eight formulas were tested their physical properties, if organoleptic characteristics, homogeneity, pH, spreadability, adhesiveness, viscosity, and cream type. The optimal formula was determined based on the responses of pH, viscosity, spreadability, and adhesiveness with a target desirability value approaching 1. Subsequently, the optimal formula obtained was evaluated for its Sun Protection Factor (SPF) value. Result : Testing of the eight formulas yielded response values of pH ranging from 6.39 to 7.8, viscosity from 28440 to 50000 cP, spreadability from 5.3 to 6.7 cm, and adhesiveness from 7.46 to 18.02 seconds. Furthermore, the SPF testing of kaffir lime peel essential oil resulted in an SPF value of 10.330, whereas the SPF value of the optimum cream was determined to be 33.074. Conclusion : The optimal concentration of emulsifier with a stearic acid to triethanolamine ratio of 15% and 4%, respectively, was able to enhance the Sun Protection Factor (SPF) value in the cream formulation.
