Abstract

Sari, Ulmala (2024): Developing English Supplementary Book for Vocational High School Assisted by Fliphtml5. Thesis. English Education Study Program. Faculty of Teacher Training and Education of Jambi University in the Academic Year 2023/2024. The first supervisor is Dr. Dra. Rachmawati M.Pd. and the second supervisor is Dr. Reli Handayani, S.S., M.Pd. This research was a type of development research. This study was aimed to develop English supplementary book assisted by Fliphtml5. The subjects of this research were tenth grade students of visual communication design (VCD) at vocational high school (VHS) Taruna Indonesia, Jambi city. In the product development, this study employed mix method with total of 15 students. The development processes were adapted from Richey and Klein developmental research model (2007). The data were collected by observation, interview and documentation techniques. The process of designing the book as follows: (1) Need analysis; to find out the students need by observing and interviewing the target needs, (2) Design Stage; planning the layout and the content material to be put in the product, (3) Development Stage; product was being developed and designed with suitable material and activities, validations from expert content and media validator, questionnaire was given to each expert for input and suggestion for the book, and (4) Evaluation; the process from analysis, design, and development to be revised and concluded in the form of final stage development. This book was in the form of flipbook. It consisted of four chapters covering design communication visual specific major for tenth grade students. The results showed that the percentage expert material assessments of 90,6% and 68,7%, media expert of 89% and big trial group is 92%. Therefore, after all the process from the analysis stage to the final evaluation from experts, the researcher was assumed that the English supplementary book eventually reached generally satisfactory standard.
