Abstract
This study explores the strategy and implementation of teaching reading through Problem-Based Learning (PBL) in SMP Negeri 11 Kota Jambi. This research used a qualitative approach with observation and interview methods to collect data. Participants in the study were an English teacher and a seventh-grade classmate. The results showed that the strategies used by teachers are scaffolding and QAR (Question and Answer relationship). In implementing the two strategies, the teacher used brainstorming, giving lighter questions, dividing them into small groups, and giving tasks relevant to everyday life. The two strategies assist students in developing critical thinking and problem-solving skills. In implementing PBL, the teacher started with an orientation toward the problem and managed to activate the students' critical thinking. Next, students are divided into small groups to discuss and solve problem-based tasks. The discussion results are then presented to strengthen understanding and enable collaborative learning. In the evaluation phase, the teacher provides constructive feedback on the student's performance and discussion results and encourages other groups to give their opinion.
