Abstract
Kata kunci: Kompos; kotoran sapi; Lumricus rubellus; sampah daun; vermikomposting ABSTRACT Jambi University, the Pinang Masak campus is the current main campus of Jambi University, which covers an area of 100.1 Ha which not only consists of office buildings, lecture buildings, but also forest areas and experimental gardens. With this large area, it certainly produces a lot of organic waste. Most of the organic waste at the Jambi University Pinang Masak campus is dominated by leaf waste. Leaf waste is one of the materials that can be used as compost. The addition of other organic materials is needed to increase the nutrient content of the compost. Vermicomposting is a cheap technology for processing organic waste. Vermicomposting is an organic process, nonthermophilic biooxidation and stabilization of the decomposition of organic waste that relies on earthworms to cut, mix and improve the work of microorganisms. The aim of this research is to study the effect of increasing the number of earthworms on the performance of the composting process from a mixture of garden waste and cow dung and to obtain the best results from the effect of increasing the number of earthworms. Research on composting organic waste using the vermicomposting method, a case study at Jambi University, Pinang Masak campus, has been completed. This research began with the fermentation process of raw materials, namely garden waste and cow dung for 2 weeks, followed by a vermicomposting process for 30 days. The vermicomposting process is carried out using variations in the weight of the worms and the size of the container used. During the vermicomposting process the temperature is in the range of 27-32℃, constant pH is 7, optimum composting is with the addition of 400 grams of earthworms, C-Organic value 20.07%, N-Total 1.93%, Water Content 10.45 % and C/N Ratio Value 10.39. The values for water content, pH, temperature, C-Organic, N-Total and C/N Ratio meet SNI 19-7030-2004. Keywords: Compost; cow dung; Lumricus rubellus; leaf litter; vermicomposting
