Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa SMP N 7 yang dilihat dari hasil tes soal uraian yang terindikasi dengan sintaks kemampuan pemecahan masalah. Diperoleh hasil bahwa kemampuan siswa dalam menyelesaikan masalah masih lemah, terlihat dari sintak kemampuan pemecahan masalah yang tidak terpenuhi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah terdapat pengaruh dari penerapan model Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) dan model Problem Based Learning (PBL) terhadap kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di SMPN 7 Muaro Jambi pada Februari-Maret 2024. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian kuantitatif dengan metode True Experimental Design menggunakan Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design. Data penelitian diperoleh melalui lembar observasi keterlaksanaan guru dan siswa, serta tes kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa. Populasi penelitian mencakup seluruh siswa kelas VII SMPN 7 Muaro Jambi TA 2023/2024, dan sampel penelitian diambil menggunakan teknik Cluster Random Sampling. Instrumen yang digunakan berupa lembar observasi keterlaksanaan pembelajaran guru dan siswa, serta soal tes kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, diperoleh nilai signifikansi sebesar 0.001 < 0.05, yang menunjukkan adanya pengaruh penerapan model pembelajaran CTL dan PBL terhadap kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis. Sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa siswa yang diterapkan model pembelajaran CTL dan model pembelajaran PBL memiliki kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis yang lebih tinggi dibanding dengan kelas yang menerapkan model pembelajaran langsung, dengan hasil posttest kelas CTL memperoleh skor rata-rata 24.21, kelas PBL memperoleh rata-rata 25.09, sedangkan kelas kontrol dengan model pembelajaran langsung memperoleh rata-rata 22.44. This research is motivated by the low mathematical problem-solving abilities of students at SMP N 7, as indicated by the results of essay tests that reflect problem-solving skills. The results showed that students' ability to solve problems is still weak, as seen from the unmet problem-solving skill syntax. This study aims to determine whether there is an influence of the application of the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) model and the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model on students' mathematical problem-solving abilities. The research was conducted at SMPN 7 Muaro Jambi from February to March 2024. This quantitative study employed a True Experimental Design using a Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design. Data were obtained through observation sheets of teacher and student activities, as well as tests of students' mathematical problem-solving abilities. The population included all seventh-grade students of SMPN 7 Muaro Jambi for the 2023/2024 academic year, and the sample was taken using the Cluster Random Sampling technique. The instruments used were observation sheets of the implementation of teacher and student activities, and mathematical problem-solving ability test questions. Based on the research results, a significance value of 0.001 < 0.05 was obtained, indicating an influence of the CTL and PBL learning models on students' mathematical problem-solving abilities. It can be concluded that students who were taught using the CTL and PBL models have higher mathematical problem-solving abilities compared to the class that used the direct instruction model. The posttest results showed that the CTL class obtained an average score of 24.21, the PBL class obtained an average score of 25.09, while the control class with the direct instruction model obtained an average score of 22.44.
