Abstract
ABSTRAK Latar Belakang : salah satu penyebab perubahan pada pH saliva antara lain mikroorganisme rongga mulut. Saliva menjadi salah satu faktor mempunyai pengaruh besar terhadap terjadinya proses karies gigi. Berkumur adalah salah satu cara yang dapat dilakukan untuk mengurangi jumlah bakteri dengan tetap menjaga fungsi saliva di rongga mulut. Salah satu larutan kumur alami adalah larutan madu karena dapat memberikan efek kepada kesehatan rongga mulut dan menghambat pertumbuhan bakteri. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui apakah terdapat pengaruh berkumur larutan madu terhadap derajat keasaman (pH) saliva. Metode : Penelitian ini adalah penelitian quasi eksperimen pada 40 sampel yang diperoleh melalui purposive sampling. Dengan diukur pH saliva sebelum dan sesudah berkumur pada larutan madu (kelompok eksperimen) dan air putih (kelompok kontrol). Hasil : Rata-rata pH saliva sebelum dan sesudah berkumur larutan madu mengalami penurunan. Pada Uji Paired Sampel T-Test terjadinya perbedaan yang signifikan pH saliva sebelum dan sesudah berkumur larutan madu dimana didapatkan nilai p = 0,001 (p <0,05). Sedangkan pada Uji Independent Sampel T-Test didapatkan nilai p = 0,009 yang artinya terdapat perbedaan yang bermakna antara hasil sesudah berkumur pada kelompok eksperimen dan kelompok kontrol. Saran Larutan Madu dapat digunakan sebagai bahan berkumur. Kesimpulan : Terdapat pengaruh berkumur larutan madu terhadap derajat keasaman (pH) saliva pada mahasiswa program studi kedokteran. Saliva is one of the factors that has a big influence on the occurrence of dental caries. Gargling is one way that can be done to reduce the number of bacteria while maintaining the function of saliva in the oral cavity. One natural mouthwash solution is honey solution because it can have an effect on oral health and inhibit the growth of bacteria. The aim of this research was to determine whether there was an effect of gargling with honey solution on the degree of acidity (pH) of saliva. Methods : This research is a quasi-experimental research on 40 samples obtained through purposive sampling. The pH of saliva was measured before and after gargling with honey solution (experiment) and water (control). Results : The average pH of saliva before and after gargling the honey solution decreased. In the Paired Sample T-Test, there was a significant difference in the pH of saliva before and after gargling the honey solution, and the value was p = 0.001 (p <0.05). Meanwhile, in the Independent Sample T-Test, the value of p = 0.009 was obtained, which means there was a significant difference between the results after gargling in the experimental group and the control group. Suggestion: Honey solution can be used as a mouth rinse. Conclusion : There is an effect of gargling honey solution on the degree of acidity (pH) of saliva in medical study program students.
