Abstract

Cekungan Ombilin memiliki potensi sumberdaya alam yaitu batubara yang berumur Tersier. Penelitian ini dilakukan di PT. Allied Indo Coal Jaya, yang secara administratif terletak di Daerah Prambahan, Kec. Talawi, Kota Sawahlunto Provinsi Sumatera Barat. Secara geografis terletak pada 0°35'50"- 0°36'40" LS dan 100°47'-100°48'10" BT. PT. Allied Indo Coal Jaya melakukan penambangan dengan metode tambang terbuka (strip mine) dan metode tambang bawah tanah (underground mine). Aktivitas penambangan menghasilkan air asam tambang yang banyak mengandung unsur-unsur logam yang akan berdampak pada kualitas air. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui kondisi geologi dan hubungan geokimia air pada tambang terbuka. Metode penelitian ini berupa metode survei pemetaan geologi, berupa pengamatan morfologi, pengamatan litologi batuan, pengamatan pola pengaliran, pengukuran struktur geologi serta pengambilan contoh batuan dan contoh air untuk dianalisis kandungan fisika dan kimianya di studio dan di laboratorium. Kondisi geologi daerah penelitian yaitu berada dalam formasi Sawahlunto dan formasi Sawahtambang, dengan satuan batuan batulempung sawahlunto dan batupasir sawahtambang. Peluang terjadinya pencemaran kualitas air permukaan ini bisa berasal dari timbulnya air asam tambang yang terjadi akibat adanya logam berat yang terdapat dalam timbunan overburden maupun batubara yang beroksidasi dengan mineral-mineral sulfida sehingga menimbulkan potensi air asam tambang. Selain dari air asam tambang, air lubang tambang juga sangat mempengaruhi kualitas air permukaan. Air lubang tambang mengandung berbagai logam berat yang dapat mengalir ke air permukaan serta dapat mencemari air permukaan. Berdasarkan hasil geokimia air dan batuan pada daerah penelitian menunjukan dalam kondisi yang baik dan tidak melebihi standar baku mutu yang ditetapkan. Kata kunci : Batubara, Air, Geokimia The Ombilin Basin has natural resource potential, namely coal of Tertiary age. This research was conducted at PT. Allied Indo Coal Jaya, which is administratively located in the Prambahan Region, District. Talawi, Sawahlunto City, West Sumatra Province. Geographically, it is located at 0°35'50"- 0°36'40" South Latitude and 100°47'-100°48'10" East Longitude. PT. Allied Indo Coal Jaya carries out mining using the open pit method (strip mine) and the underground mine. Mining activities produce acid mine water which contains many metal elements which will have an impact on water quality. The aim of this research is to determine the geological conditions and geochemical relationships of water in open mines geological mapping, in the form of morphological observations, observing rock lithology, observing drainage patterns, measuring geological structures as well as taking rock samples and water samples to analyze their physical and chemical content in the studio and in the laboratory. The geological conditions of the research area are in the Sawahlunto formation and Sawahtambang formation, with the Sawahlunto claystone and Sawahtambang sandstone units. The opportunity for surface water quality pollution could come from the emergence of acid mine drainage which occurs due to the presence of heavy metals in overburden piles and coal which oxidizes with sulfide minerals, giving rise to the potential for acid mine drainage. Apart from acid mine drainage, mine hole water also greatly influences surface water quality. Mine pit water contains various heavy metals which can flow into surface water and can pollute surface water. Based on the geochemical results of the water and rocks in the research area, it shows that they are in good condition and do not exceed the established quality standards.
