Abstract

This developmental research aimed to construct comics for reading comprehension by using the Story Tribe application. The subjects of this research were fourth-grade students from MI An-Nizham Jambi city. In product construction, this study employed a mixed method with 19 students. The construction processes were adapted from the Richey and Client developmental research model (2014). The data were collected by observation, focus group discussion, and curriculum analysis. The process of the construction of comics starts with (1) Analysis; of the student's needs, school environment, and curriculum analysis by observing and focus group discussion; (2) Design; planning the layout and the content material to be put in the comic, (3) Development; the product was being constructed and designed with suitable material and activities, validations from expert content and media, a questionnaire was given to each expert for input and suggestion for the comic, (4) Implementation; The Comics was implemented in small groups to see the responses of students and teachers, and small group tryouts were carried out during the development process, and (5) Evaluation; the process from analysis, design, and development to be revised and conclude in the form of final stage development. The comics are printed and digital in PDF format. The results showed that the percentage of expert material assessments was 76,78% and medium expert of 86,36%. Therefore, after the process from the analysis stage to the final evaluation from experts, the researcher assumed that the comic for reading comprehension eventually reached a generally satisfactory standard.
