Abstract

Palm oil (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.) originates from Nigeria, West Africa. However, oil palm thrives outside its native areas, such as Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and Papua New Guinea. For Indonesia, oil palm plants have an important meaning apart from being able to create employment opportunities that lead to community welfare, as well as being a source of foreign exchange for the country. Oil palm plants (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.) are one of the plantation commodities that have high economic value. The processed products from these plants are palm oil products (crude palm oil) and palm kernel oil (kernel palm oil). The first step that needs to be taken to increase oil palm productivity is to use quality seeds from the nursery stage. Therefore, apart from requiring superior and certified seeds, it is also necessary to fertilize at the seedling stage. Generally, inorganic fertilizers are used more often, however, their continuous use will damage soil fertility. Efforts that can be made are by adding organic fertilizer. This research was carried out at the Teaching and Research Farm, Faculty of Agriculture, Jambi University, Mendalo Indah Village, Jambi Luar Kota District, Muaro Jambi Regency, Jambi Province for 6 months, starting in July-December 2023. This research used a Completely Randomized Design (RAL) with 5 treatments, namely: p0 = Without giving POC + 100% NPKMg (Recommendation), p1 = 10% POC goat urine + 50% NPKMg, p2 = POC goat urine 20% + 50% NPKMg, p3 = POC goat urine 30% + 50% NPKMg, p4 = Goat urine POC 40% + 50% NPKMg. Each experimental unit consisted of 3 plants and was repeated 5 times, so that the total number of plants was 75 plants and 2 sample plants were taken from each experimental unit. Observed variables included increase in height (cm), tuber diameter (mm), increase in number of leaves (strands), shoot dry weight (g), root dry weight (g) and root shoot ratio (g). The results of the research showed that the POC treatment of goat urine 400 ml.L-1 + 50% NPKMg 15:15:6:4 fertilizer was the treatment that gave the best results and was able to match the use of 100% NPKMg 15:15:6:4 fertilizer for the growth of coconut seedlings. palms in the main nursery.
