Abstract

Background: Juvenile delinquency, including in Indonesia, is a global problem with 200 thousand cases of murder of young people aged 12-29 years per year according to WHO 2020. This includes physical violence, bullying, sexual violence, drugs, free sex, brawls, theft and criminal acts. others that violate community norms and laws, have a negative impact on individuals, families and society, and can give rise to criminal acts. Therefore, researchers are interested in examining the factors that cause juvenile delinquency. Method: This research uses a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design at SMP Negeri 06 Jambi City. The population consisted of 1344 people, with a sample of 102 respondents from grades 7, 8, and 9 selected using Purposive Sampling Technique. The instruments used include juvenile delinquency questionnaires (Self Report Delinquency Elliot-Ageton), personality (Jung's Type Indicator Test), and social support (Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support - MSPSS), using the Kendall's Tau test. Results: The results of the analysis show a significant relationship between personality and juvenile delinquency at school (p-value = 0.010, r = 0.918), as well as between social support and juvenile delinquency (p-value = 0.020, r = 0.780). Conclusion: Social support, the role of parents, and peer relationships have a significant effect on juvenile delinquency. To overcome this, support from the surrounding environment is needed. Families must pay more attention to children's activities, while teenagers must be more careful in choosing positive associations to prevent and reduce juvenile delinquency. Keyword: Adolescence, Personality, Social support ABSTRAK Latar belakang : Kenakalan remaja, termasuk di Indonesia, adalah masalah global dengan 200 ribu kasus pembunuhan anak muda usia 12-29 tahun per tahun menurut WHO 2020. Ini termasuk kekerasan fisik, perundungan, kekerasan seksual, narkoba, seks bebas, tawuran, pencurian, dan tindakan kriminal lain yang melanggar norma masyarakat dan hukum, berdampak negatif pada individu, keluarga, dan masyarakat, serta dapat menimbulkan tindakan kriminal. Oleh karena itu, peneliti tertarik untuk meneliti faktor-faktor yang menjadi penyebab kenakalan remaja. Metode : Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan rancangan cross-sectional di SMP Negeri 06 Kota Jambi. Populasi terdiri dari 1344 orang, dengan sampel 102 responden dari kelas 7, 8, dan 9 yang dipilih menggunakan Teknik Purposive Sampling. Instrumen yang digunakan meliputi kuesioner kenakalan remaja (Self Report Delinquency Elliot-Ageton), kepribadian (Jung’s Type Indicator Test), dan dukungan sosial (Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support - MSPSS), dengan penggunaan uji Kendall’s Tau. Hasil : Hasil analisis menunjukkan hubungan signifikan antara kepribadian dan kenakalan remaja di sekolah (p-value = 0,010, r = 0,918), serta antara dukungan sosial dan kenakalan remaja (p-value = 0,020, r = 0,780). Kesimpulan : Dukungan sosial, peran orang tua, dan pergaulan sebaya berpengaruh signifikan terhadap kenakalan remaja. Untuk mengatasinya, perlu dukungan dari lingkungan sekitar. Keluarga harus lebih perhatian pada aktivitas anak-anak, sementara remaja harus lebih berhati-hati dalam memilih pergaulan yang positif untuk mencegah dan mengurangi kenakalan remaja.
