Abstract
This research designed to find out students’ learning difficulties in literary class. Descriptive qualitative method used as the research design in this research. Thus, the researcher explained the data descriptively. The participants of this research were four sophomore students from English Study Program at Jambi University who selected based on appropriate category with the research. The findings of this study show that students face two main problems in literary class. The first is difficulty in understanding literary text. This problem faced by the students due to complex vocabulary and unfamiliarity with writer’s cultural reference in the texts. The second problem is difficulty in writing literary analysis. Students were identified the reason of this problem is they should have a wide horizon and in-depth comprehension on literary features contained in the texts.
