Abstract
The research aims to analyze the legal certainty regarding the regulation of the loss of Indonesian citizenship held by a citizen based on Law Number 12 of 2006 concerning Indonesian Citizenship. The issues to be examined include the factors that can lead to the loss of Indonesian citizenship and its legal consequences using the normative juridical research method. The legal consequence of losing Indonesian citizenship is the termination of the rights and responsibilities between the Indonesian state and its citizens. The author recommends adding an explanation regarding the legal consequences of losing Indonesian citizenship to avoid ambiguity in its implementation, as well as the need for clarity on the elements that allow someone to regain lost Indonesian citizenship based on Article 23 of Law Number 12 of 2006. The research findings from various sources indicate that the regulation of losing Indonesian citizenship lacks legal certainty and does not fully reflect the principles of Indonesian citizenship law and good governance. Therefore, there is a need to reformulate the regulation of losing Indonesian citizenship to provide legal certainty and clarity, taking into account the various factors that can lead to the loss of citizenship.
