Abstract
Critical thinking skill is the ability to analyze or examine an idea or idea after understanding it. This study aims to describe the advantages of the problem-based learning (PBL) learning model. The approach used in this research is qualitative, while the type of research is a case study. The data from this study are the results of observations and interviews, the source of this research is students and teachers at SMPN 1 MB Jambi Province. In checking the validity of the data, the researchers applied source triangulation. The data analysis technique used in this study was interactive analysis. The results showed that there were 5 syntax or stages of implementing the problem-based learning model. These stages indicate that this learning model can improve students' critical thinking skills. However, the teacher still has to supervise ongoing learning activities.
