Abstract

Character education in the learning process in the classroom and outside the classroom is an alternative to instill the character of love for the homeland in students with flag ceremonies, the habit of singing the national anthem before and after teaching and learning activities at school. From these activities, it is expected to be able to bridge students from negative characters that may occur in everyday life. This study aims to describe the strategies used by teachers in instilling an attitude of patriotism in students at the 55/I Sridadi Elementary School. The research method uses a qualitative approach. The research location is in the 55/I Sridadi State Elementary School. Data collection techniques using interviews, observation and documentation. Data analysis techniques used are reducing data, presenting data and drawing conclusions. The results of the study show that the strategies used to instill a love for the homeland in students are through: (1) teaching and learning activities, by making habits of using the Indonesian language, maintaining cleanliness and tidiness in the classroom, singing national songs before learning, teaching materials that support love the homeland. (2) school culture, carrying out flag ceremonies every Monday, Friday yasinan activities, commemoration of independence day, youth oath day and hero's day. (3) extracurricular, in the form of the implementation of scouting activities. These are some of the ways as a unit to instill love for the homeland in students at the 55/I Sridadi Elementary School.
