Abstract

This study aims to describe the results of the analysis of the ability to write poetry in fifth grade elementary school students. This study uses a qualitative approach research method with the type of case study research. Sources of data in this study were classroom teachers and fifth grade students of SD Negeri 45/I Sridadi. Data collection techniques used are observation, and interviews. After the data was collected, the data was analyzed qualitatively using the theory of Miles and Huberman's analytical techniques which consisted of data reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that of the 27 fifth grade students of SD Negeri 45/I Sridadi, it was found that 9 students experienced ADC, WJ, RR, CDG, MP, SLN, ZA, SR, and AS problems in writing poetry such as: (I) have not been able to meet the requirements of rhymes (II) have not met the criteria for writing interesting rhymes content (III) have not been able to write rhymes with appropriate diction/language style. Then the forms of difficulties experienced by students in writing rhymes are: (I) equating the rhyme, (II) expressing thoughts and feelings for the interestingness of the content of the rhyme (III) making rhymes consisting of 8-12 syllables.
