Abstract

ABSTRAK LATAR BELAKANG Dikalangan remaja fesyen merupakan simbol yang paling populer dan tidak dapat dilepaskan dari penampilan serta sebagai bentuk mengekspresikan diri. Tren fesyen yang paling populer tersebut salah satunya adalah membeli barang bekas (thrifting). Pembelian barang bekas pada remaja bertujuan agar mereka dapat diterima dan sejalan dengan tren fesyen kelompok sebayanya. Di lain sisi timbulnya perasaan tidak puas terhadap diri sendiri juga menyebabkan remaja rendah diri, sehingga mendorong mereka untuk membeli barang-barang yang memiliki arti dan dapat meningkatkan harga dirinya. Konformitas kerap terjadi dalam kelompok sebaya khususnya dalam pembelian barang bekas. Kuatnya pengaruh konformitas dapat mengarahkan remaja kepada perilaku konsumtif. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara konformitas tema sebaya terhadap perilaku konsumtif dalam thrift shopping pada remaja di Kota Jambi. METODE Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif berjenis penelitian survei. Responden penelitian adalah remaja di Kota Jambi, berjumla 100 orang yang dipilih menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Analisis data menggunakan teknik korelasi pearson product moment. HASIL Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa: (1) Adanya hubungan positif antara konformitas terhadap perilaku konsumtif dengan nilai R2 sebesar 0,000 (p<0,05); (2) Sebanyak 45 responden menunjukkan konformitas dengan kategori sedang; (3) Sebanyak 32 responden berperilaku konsumtif dengan kategori sedang. KESIMPULAN Terdapat hubungan positif antara konformitas teman sebaya dengan perilaku konsumtif. Dimana konformitas dan perilaku konsumtif pada remaja masing-masing berada pada kategori sedang. Kata Kunci : Konformitas, Perilaku Konsumtif, Thrifting ABSTRACT BACKGROUND Among teenagers, fashion is the most popular symbol and cannot be separated from appearance and as a form of self-expression. One of the most popular fashion trends is buying used goods (thrifting). Buying used goods by teenagers aims to be accepted and in line with the fashion trends of their peer group. On the other hand, the emergence of feelings of dissatisfaction with themselves also causes teenagers to have low self-esteem, thus encouraging them to buy items that have meaning and can increase their self-esteem. Conformity often occurs in peer groups, especially in buying used goods. The strong influence of conformity can lead teenagers to consumer behavior. This study aims to determine the relationship between peer theme conformity and consumer behavior in thrift shopping among teenagers in Jambi City. METHOD This study uses a quantitative approach in the form of survey research. The respondents of the study were teenagers in Jambi City, totaling 100 people selected using purposive sampling techniques. Data analysis used the Pearson product moment correlation technique. RESULTS This study shows that: (1) There is a positive relationship between conformity and consumer behavior with an R2 value of 0.000 (p<0.05); (2) A total of 45 respondents showed moderate conformity; (3) A total of 32 respondents behaved in a moderate consumer category. CONCLUSION There is a positive relationship between peer conformity and consumer behavior. Where conformity and consumer behavior in adolescents are each in the moderate category.
