Abstract
The cucumber plant (Cucumis sativus L.) is a fruit vegetable plant from the gourd family (Cucurbitaceae). This plant is widely cultivated by farmers in the lowlands and highlands. Central Statistics Agency (2023) said that the productivity of national cucumber plants in 2021 was 11.01 tons/ha, however, the productivity of cucumber plants in Jambi Province in the same year was only 6.90 tons/ha. The low productivity of cucumbers in Jambi Province compared to the national level is caused by several factors, one of which is pest attacks. The main pest that attacks cucumber plants is fruit flies (Bactrocera spp). This pest attack can reduce production by up to 30-100%. This research aims to determine the effectiveness of types of attractant compounds on the species and number of fruit flies trapped and to obtain types of attractant compounds that are effective in trapping fruit flies. This research was carried out from October to December 2023 at the Teaching and Research Farm, Faculty of Agriculture, Jambi University and the Plant Pest Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, Jambi University. This research was carried out by comparing four treatments (control, citronella attractant, basil attractant, and petrogenol attractant). The variables observed included the species and number of fruit flies trapped, the percentage of fruit attacked and cucumber production. The results of the study showed that petrogenol had higher effectiveness than citronella in trapping fruit flies. Basil and controls were unable to attract fruit flies into the trap. There are two species of fruit flies that are trapped in the attractant petrogenol and citronella, namely Bactrocera carambolae and Bactrocera umbrosa. The percentage of infected fruit and cucumber production showed results that were not significantly different. Key words: types of attractant compounds, cucumber, Bactrocera spp. Tanaman mentimun (Cucumis sativus L.) merupakan salah satu tanaman sayuran buah dari Family labu-labuan (Cucurbitaceae). Tanaman ini banyak dibudidayakan petani di dataran rendah ataupun dataran tinggi. Badan Pusat Statistik (2023) produktivitas tanaman mentimun nasional pada tahun 2021 yaitu 11,01 ton/ha, akan tetapi produktivitas tanaman mentimun di Provinsi Jambi pada tahun yang sama hanya sebesar 6,90 ton/ha. Rendahnya produktivitas mentimun di Provinsi Jambi dibandingkan dengan Nasional ini disebabkan oleh beberapa faktor, salah satunya yaitu serangan hama. Hama utama yang menyerang tanaman timun yaitu lalat buah (Bactrocera spp). Serangan hama ini mampu menurunkan produksi hingga 30-100%. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas jenis senyawa atraktan terhadap species dan jumlah lalat buah yang terperangkap dan mendapatkan jenis senyawa atraktan yang efektif dalam memerangkap lalat buah. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada bulan Oktober sampai bulan Desember 2023 di Teaching and Research Farm Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Jambi dan Laboratorium Hama Tanaman Fakultas Pertanian, Universitas Jambi. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan membandingkan empat perlakuan (kontrol, atraktan serai wangi, atraktan kemangi, dan atraktan petrogenol). Variabel yang diamati meliputi species dan jumlah lalat buah yang terperangkap, persentase buah terserang dan produksi mentimun. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa petrogenol memiliki efektivitas lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan serai wangi dalam memerangkap lalat buah. Kemangi dan kontrol tidak mampu menarik lalat buah masuk ke dalam perangkap. Terdapat dua species lalat buah yang terperangkap pada atraktan petrogenol dan serai wangi yaitu Bactrocera carambolae dan Bactrocera umbrosa. Persentase buah terserang dan produksi mentimun menunjukkan hasil yang tidak berbeda nyata. Kata kunci: jenis senyawa atraktan, mentimun, Bactrocera spp.
