Abstract

ABSTRACT Lega Anattri, 2024. Development of an Ethnoscience-Based Teaching Module on Batik Incung Kerinci as a Biology Learning Resource for Plant Materi. Master’s Thesis, Science Education Program, Universitas Jambi. Advisors: (I) Dr. Dra. Upik Yelianti, M.S., (II) Dr. Agus Subagyo, S.Si, M.Si. 21st century learning emphasizes critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills. Ethnoscience can be integrated into various learning models, including 21st century learning models such as Project-Based Learning (PjBL) with ethnoscience approach. The study was conducted in Kerinci District and Sungai Penuh Municipality, more specifically SMA Negeri 1 Sungai Penuh and Batik Incung Kerinci Studio, and aims to develop an ethnoscience education module that enhances students' understanding of plants through a local cultural improvement approach.The method uses the ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implement, Evaluate) development model, which includes needs analysis, module design, product development, implementation, and evaluation. Product validation was performed by two validators (material and media experts), the resulted in validation shows 98.6% and 96.3%, respectively, which were deemed highly valid and suitable for implementation. The actual random sampling test was conducted for class XA and class XC, with 8 students each in the small group test and 18 students in the large group test. The results of the practical test were classified as practical and very practical with 79.84% for small group and 85.39% for large group.The results of the practical test for the six biology teachers were 75%, 100%, 91.25%, 93. 75%, 89.16%, 95.41% with the average category being very practical. The application of the ethnoscience education module on Batik Incung Kerinci is expected to contribute positively as an excellent learning resource and improve students' understanding and learning achievement in biology.
