Abstract
This research was conducted in the Baong Formation of the Aru Sub Basin, North Sumatra Basin. The Baong Formation is divided into three units, namely: Lower Baong Shale, Middle Baong Sandstone (MBS) and Upper Baong Shale. Lower Baong Shale Unit. Middle Baong Sandstone is the focus of the research formation where the formation layer is composed of carbonate shale and sandstone dominance. The top part of the MBS formation is characterized by a layer of sandstone while the bottom layer of this formation has the last layer above the Lower Baong Shale. The geological structure that developed in the research area is one Thrust Fault trending Northwest-Southeast, one Normal Fault trending Northeast-Southwest. The purpose of this study was to determine the geological conditions in the research area basin, facies distribution and facies modeling. By using the subsurface method, namely the method of collecting and analyzing secondary subsurface data. Facies determination is carried out by electrofacies analysis, well log data, and seismic data. The final results are geological conditions, facies distribution and facies modeling. Sedimentary facies in the Submarine Fan research area which is part of the Middle Baong Sandstone lithofacies. Sub Marine Fan facies and subfacies, namely Supra Fan Lobes. The research area was deposited in a delta depositional environment. The research analysis focuses on the System Track where the Aggradation Pattern indicates events that are characteristic of the Lowstand System Tract and sandstone lithofacies with Sub Marine Fan depositional facies, so that the depth interval of 1630-1730 sstvd is interpreted as the Lowstand System Tract (LST). Keywords: facies, deposition, petroleum.
