Abstract

ABSTRAK Pinang (Areca catechu L.) adalah salah satu tumbuhan monokotil yang tergolong palem-paleman. Pinang merupakan komoditi ekspor unggulan pada kelompok komoditi pertanian. peningkatan luas areal tanaman pinang tidak diikuti dengan peningkatan produksi dan produktivitasnya. Hal tersebut diakibatkan karena terdapat banyak tanaman pinang yang rusak atau tidak menghasilkan yang disebabkan oleh teknik budidaya yang kurang maksimal, seperti kesuburan tanah, pemupukan dan bibit yang tidak berkualitas. Tujuan penelitian untuk mengetahui bagaimana respons pertumbuhan bibit pinang (Areca catechu L.) varietas betara terhadap pemberian kompos kulit buah kopi dan mendapat dosis kompos yang terbaik terhadap pertumbuhan bibit pinang. Penelitian ini telah dilaksanakan di Teaching and Research Farm Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Jambi, Desa Mendalo Indah, Kecamatan Jambi Luar Kota, Kabupaten Muaro Jambi, dengan ketinggian ±35 mdpl. Waktu pelaksanaan penelitian selama 7 bulan yaitu pada bulan Agustus 2023 sampai bulan Februari 2024. Penelitian ini dilakukan dalam bentuk percobaan menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap yang terdiri dari 4 taraf perlakuan dan 5 ulangan. Pupuk kompos kulit buah kopi yang terdiri dari 0g/bibit, 150g/bibit, 250g/bibit, 350g/bibit. Data telah dianalisis secara statistik dan diperiksa lebih lanjut menggunakan uji BNT taraf 5%. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemberian kompos kulit buah kopi berpengaruh terhadap pertambahan tinggi bibit, namun belum berpengaruh terhadap pertambahan jumlah daun dan diameter batang bibit pinang betara. Dosis kompos kulit buah kopi belum ada diperoleh dosis yang terbaik dalam meningkatkan pertumbuhan bibit pinang betara. Kata Kunci :Pinang Betara; Kompos kulit buah kopi; Pertumbuhan Abstract Areca nut (Areca catechu L.) is a monocotyledonous plant which is classified as a palm. Areca nut is a leading export commodity in the agricultural commodity group. The increase in areca nut plantation area is not followed by an increase in production and productivity. This happens because there are many areca palm plants that are damaged or not producing due to suboptimal cultivation techniques, such as soil fertility, fertilization and poor quality seeds.The aim of the research was to find out how the growth of areca nut seedlings (Areca catechu L.) Betara variety responds to the application of coffee fruit skin compost and to get the best dose of compost for the growth of areca nut seedlings.This research was carried out at the Teaching and Research Farm, Faculty of Agriculture, Jambi University, Mendalo Indah Village, Jambi Luar Kota District, Muaro Jambi Regency, at an altitude of ±35 meters above sea level. The research time period was 7 months, namely from August 2023 to February 2024. This research was carried out in the form of an experiment using a completely randomized design consisting of 4 treatment levels and 5 replications. Coffee fruit skin compost fertilizer consisting of 0g/seed, 150g/seed, 250g/seed, 350g/seed. The data has been analyzed statistically and examined further using the BNT test at the 5% level. The results of the research showed that the dose of coffee husk compost had an effect on increasing the height of the seedlings, but had no effect on increasing the number of leaves and stem diameter of the betel nut seedlings. The best dose of coffee fruit skin compost has not been found to increase the growth of areca nut seedlings. Keywords: Areca nut betara; coffee fruit skin compost;growth
