Abstract
ABSTRAK Tanaman kelapa sawit yang memasuki umur tanaman tua dan tidak produktif, perlu dilakukan penggantian dengan tanaman baru untuk meningkatkan produktivitas. Penggunaan lahan replanting untuk penanaman sawit dengan bibit baru memiliki beberapa kekurangan, diantaranya adalah tingkat produktivitas lahan serta adanya kemungkinan perubahan struktur tanah akibat penanaman kelapa sawit pada masa sebelumnya. Pembukaan lahan untuk penanaman bibit baru yang dilakukan menggunakan alat-alat berat, juga dapat menyebabkan kerusakan fisik pada tanah karena terjadinya pemadatan tanah akibat lintasan alat berat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji beberapa karakteristik fisika tanah di areal replanting perkebunan kelapa sawit pada berbagai kelerengan. Penelitian dilakukan di Desa Sungai Muluk, Kecamatan Muara Papalik, Kabupaten Tanjung Jabung Barat. Parameter yang diamati adalah tekstur tanah, Struktur Tanah, Bahan Organik Tanah, Total Ruang Pori, dan Kadar Air Tanah. Penelitian dilakukan menggunakan metode survei. Kegiatan replanting yang dilakukan di lokasi penelitian memberikan pengaruh terhadap perubahan sifat fisika tanah yaitu tekstur tanah bervariasi, struktur tanah didominasi gumpal membulat, bahan organik berkriteria rendah hingga sedang, bobot volume berkriteria sedang hingga tinggi, total ruang pori berkriteria rendah hingga sedang serta kadar air tanah berkriteria rendah. Kata Kunci : Fisika Tanah, Replanting, Kelerengan ABSTRACT Oil palm plants that have entered the age of old and unproductive plants need to be replaced with new plants to increase productivity. The use of replanting land for oil palm planting with new seedlings has several drawbacks, including the level of land productivity and the possibility of changes in soil structure due to oil palm planting in the previous period. Land clearing for planting new seedlings carried out using heavy equipment can also cause physical damage to the soil due to soil compaction due to the trajectory of heavy equipment. This study aims to examine some of the physical characteristics of soil in the replanting area of oil palm plantations on various slopes. The research was conducted in Sungai Muluk Village, Muara Papalik District, West Tanjung Jabung Regency. The parameters observed were soil texture, soil structure, soil organic matter, total pore space, and soil moisture content. The research was conducted using a survey method. The replanting activities carried out at the research site had an influence on the changes in soil physics, namely variable soil texture, soil structure dominated by rounded lumps, low to medium criteria of organic matter, medium to high standard volume weight, low to medium criteria of total pore space and low criteria of soil moisture content.
