Abstract

This study aimed to find out the challenges that teachers faced in teaching English vocabulary to young learners and to find out their strategies in teaching English vocabulary to young learners at one of private English course Jambi City (METTA English course). This research was conducted at METTA English course. This research was qualitative research with descriptive qualitative. The data collection of this study was conducted by interview. The participants of this research were one of teacher at private English course Jambi City (METTA English course). The result of this study showed that the teachers challenges in teaching vocabulary to young learners are students short attention and make a noise along the teaching process, and teaching strategies that implemented by the teachers at METTA English course in teaching English vocabulary to young learners are using games, using drilling, using songs, using translating (review film), and using international integrated book as a media in teaching.
