Abstract

ABSTRAK Bambu merupakan salah satu sumber daya alam hasil hutan bukan kayu yang memiliki populasi sangat banyak. Bambu sudah banyak tumbuh di kepulauan Indonesia serta bambu ini bisa diperlukan untuk menggantikan kayu pada masa depan. Bambu serik (Gigantochloa serik), bambu apus (Gigantochloa apus) dan bambu talang (Schizostachyum brachycladum), bambu duri (Bambusa blumeana), bambu temiang (Schizostachyum blumei) dan bambu ampel (Bambusa vilgaris) merupakan bambu yang diambil di Hutan Masyarakat yaitu di Desa Lidung, Kecamatan Sarolangun, Provinsi Jambi. Pemanfaatan suatu produk bambu harus didukung pentingnya sifat bambu yang belum banyak masyarakat ketahui. Salah satu sifat tersebut yaitu sifat fisis dan mekanis. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis sifat fisis dan mekanis serat bambu serik (Gigantochloa serik), bambu apus (Gigantochloa apus) dan bambu talang (Schizostachyum brachycladum), bambu duri (Bambusa blumeana), bambu temiang (Schizostachyum blumei). Penelitian ini dilakukan di Integrated Laboratory of Bioproduct (iLab), Pusat Riset Biomassa dan Bioproduk, Badan Riset Inovasi Nasional (BRIN), Cibinong, Bogor, Jawa Barat. Sifat fisis yang dianalisis yaitu nilai densitas yaitu dengan cara sampel yang sudah dioven dikaitan pada gabus foam kemudian dimasukkan kedalam minyak untuk mendapatkan nilai kerapatannya. Sedangkan sifat mekanis yang dianalisis yaitu nilai kuat tarik dan modulus elastisitas dengan cara serat bambu yang sudah direkatkan pada karton diuji menggunakan mesin UTM. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa setiap spesies bambu memiliki nilai yang berbeda-beda. Nilai densitas pada serat bambu temiang memiliki nilai terendah. Sedangkan nilai kuat tarik dan modulus elastisitas pada serat bambu talang memiliki nilai paling tinggi baik digunakan untuk bahan baku komposit. Kata Kunci: Bambu, sifat fisis, sifat mekanis, komposit ABSTRACT Bamboo is one of the natural resources of non-timber forest products that has a very large population. Bamboo is widely grown in the Indonesian archipelago and can be needed to replace wood in the future. Serik bamboo (Gigantochloa serik), apus bamboo (Gigantochloa apus) and talang bamboo (Schizostachyum brachycladum), duri bamboo (Bambusa blumeana), temiang bamboo (Schizostachyum blumei) and ampel bamboo (Bambusa vilgaris) are bamboos taken in the Community Forest, namely in Lidung Village, Sarolangun District, Jambi Province. The utilization of a bamboo product must be supported by the importance of bamboo properties that not many people know. One of these properties is physical and mechanical properties. This study aims to analyze the physical and mechanical properties of seric bamboo fiber (Gigantochloa serik), apus bamboo (Gigantochloa apus), talang bamboo (Schizostachyum brachycladum), duri bamboo (Bambusa blumeana) and temiang bamboo (Schizostachyum blumei). This research was conducted at the Integrated Laboratory of Bioproduct (iLab), Biomass and Bioproduct Research Center, National Innovation Research Agency (BRIN), Cibinong, Bogor, West Java. The physical properties analyzed were density values, namely by means of samples that had been baked in cork foam and then inserted into the oil to get the density value. While the mechanical properties analyzed are the value of tensile strength and elastic modulus by means of bamboo fibers that have been glued to the cardboard tested using a UTM machine. The results of this study show that each bamboo species has different values. The density value of temiang bamboo fiber has the lowest value. While the value of tensile strength and modulus of elasticity in chamfered bamboo fiber has the highest value both used for composite raw materials.
