Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana karakteristik morfologi artefak batu dan bagaimana jejak pakai alat batu di Kawasan Logas. Metode yang digunakan terdiri dari pengumpulan data berupa observasi dan survei permukaan. Kemudian dilakukan pengolahan dan analisis terhadap data yang telah dikumpulkan. Analisis yang dilakukan yaitu analisis morfologi dan analisis mikroskopis perbesaran rendah. Hasil penelitian memperoleh karakteristik morfologi artefak jenis alat berupa kapak perimbas, kapak penetak, serpih, dan bilah. Alat batu tersebut dibuat melalui pemangkasan sederhana tanpa memodifikasi bentuk untuk menghasilkan sisi tajaman dan masih meninggalkan korteks. Pemangkasan dilakukan dengan teknik langsung dan dugaan teknik tidak langsung berdasarkan artefak jenis perkakas berupa perkutor yang ditemukan. Kemudian terdapat artefak jenis non alat berupa batu inti dan limbah yang tidak dimanfaatkan serta terdapat artefak tidak teridentifikasi. Selanjutnya jejak pakai yang diketahui didominasi oleh pecahan dengan bentuk step fracture dan sudut tajaman terjal, lalu diikuti sudut tajaman landai dan pecahan feather fracture, selanjutnya sudut sangat terjal dan pecahan bending fracture, sedangkan pecahan dengan bentuk hinge fracture tidak ditemukan pada alat batu Kawasan Logas. Hasil analisis yang dilakukan memperlihatkan dugaan aktivitas manusia pendukung di Kawasan Logas dalam upaya pencarian bahan serta pembuatan alat berdasarkan temuan batu inti, limbah, dan perkutor. Selain itu berdasarkan pengamatan yang dilakukan terhadap sudut tajaman dan jejak pakai terdapat pula kegiatan memotong atau menguliti materi sedang hingga keras, dan kegiatan memotong materi lunak serta pengerjaan kayu atau tulang. This research aims to find out the morphological characteristics of stone artifacts and the use-wear of stone tools in the Logas area. The method used consists of data collection in the form of observations and surface surveys. Then processing and analysis of the data that has been collected is carried out. The analyzes carried out were morphological analysis and low magnification microscopic analysis. The results of the research obtained morphological characteristics of tool type artifacts in the form of chopper, chopping tools, flake and blade. The stone tools were made through simple trimming without modifying the shape to produce sharp edges and still leaving the cortex. Trimming was carried out using direct percussion and suspected indirect percussion based on the type of tool artifact in the form of a percussion tool found. Then there are non-tool types of artifacts in the form of core stones and debitage that are not used and there are unidentified artifacts. Furthermore, the known use-wear are dominated by fracture with step fracture shapes and steep angles, followed by sloping angles and feather fracture, then very steep angles and bending fracture, while hinge fracture forms are not found in the stone tools of the Logas Area. The results of the analysis carried out show allegations of supporting human activity in the Logas area in efforts to search for materials and make tools based on finds of core stone, debitage and percussion. Apart from that, based on observations made on edge angles and usewear, there are also activities for cutting or skinning medium to hard materials, and activities for cutting soft materials and working with wood or bone.
