Manulung, R. K., 2024. The accuracy of cultural word translation in the bilingual folklore of the Jambi province book. A Thesis. English Education Study Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education Jambi University in Academic Year 2023/2024. The first supervisor is Failasofah, SS, M.Pd., PhD, the second supervisor is Habizar S.Pd., MESL. Keywords: Translation, cultural word, accuracy. Maintaining a text's meaning and cultural context is greatly helped by translating cultural terms, especially in bilingual books that aim to communicate information to readers who speak different languages. This study aims to determine the types of cultural terms contained in the bilingual book of Jambi Province Folklore and analyze the accuracy of the translation of cultural terms in the bilingual book of Jambi Province Folklore. This study uses a qualitative approach using Newmark's (1988) theory of cultural word translation and Nababan's (2012) theory of translation accuracy. The findings of this study found cultural categories: Ecology, Material Culture, Social Culture, Social Organization, Gestures and Habits. The accuracy of translation of cultural words is accurate: Siluman, kancah, Lubuk, Emping, and Lukah; less accurate: Batu Sengkalan, Keris, and menyimbah. inaccurate: halimunan. And ilu that are not detected cultural categories and their levels of accuracy.
