Abstract

ABSTRACT This research aims to analyze the influence of political dynasties on political participation and voter behavior in the election of head of Nyogan Village, Mestong District, Muaro Jambi Regency. Political dynasties are a phenomenon where political power tends to be concentrated within one family, namely the Harun Muhammad Dun family, which influences the patterns and ways in which the community participates in politics. This research uses a qualitative method with a descriptive approach to explore how the dynamics of political power held by the dynasty group influence the level of political participation in society. Data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation. Analysis is conducted using Political Behavior theory. The research results show that the presence of a political dynasty in Nyogan Village significantly affects the political participation of the community. The dominance of power within one family tends to reduce political awareness and diminish the community's desire to engage in broader political activities, both in terms of elections and village governance activities. The community tends to rely on decisions made by the political dynasty, resulting in less active involvement in the political process. This research suggests the need for efforts to enhance political education at the village level to strengthen community political participation while reducing dependence on political dynasties.
