Abstract

Pada kawasan percandian Candi Muara Jambi terdapat kompleks Candi Kedaton salah satu Candi yang berada di situs percandian Muara Jambi, luas Candi Kedaton 45.000 meter persegi, atau sekitar 4.6 hektar, dengan pagar keliling yang membatasinya berukuran 215 × 250 meter. Makara pada kawasan candi Muara Jambi terdapat 5 (lima) Makara, 3 (tiga) terletak pada kompleks Candi Kedaton, 1 (satu) Makara terletak pada kompleks Candi Gumpung dan 1 (satu) Makara terletak pada museum kompleks percandian Muara Jambi. Pada penelitian ini penulis memilih mengkaji Makara yang terdapat di konpleks Candi Kedaton, ruang lingkup objek atau Makara itu sendiri terletak pada gapura Candi Kedaton yang berada di bagian utara bangunan dan gapura tersebut menghadap kearah utara. Makara di Candi Kedaton terdapat 3 (tiga) Makara terletak di gapura Candi Kedaton. Pada penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui variasi bentuk pada makara candi kedaton. Hasil dari penelitian ini menemukan variasi bentuk dari tiga makara candi kedaton terletak pada bagian figure yang mencolok dan juga terdapat perbedaan dengan beberapa makara yang ada di Sumatera Dimana makara di candi kedaton memiliki ciri khas yang terdapat pada figure yang menominasi berbentuk fauna/hewan. In the Muara Jambi temple enshrinement area there is the Kedaton Temple complex, one of the temples on the Muara Jambi enshrinement site. The area of Kedaton Temple is 45,000 square meters, or around 4.6 hectares, with a perimeter fence measuring 215 × 250 meters. There are 5 (five) Makaras in the Muara Jambi temple area, 3 (three) are located in the Kedaton Temple complex, 1 (one) Makara is located in the Gumpung Temple complex and 1 (one) Makara is located in the Muara Jambi temple complex museum. In this research the author chose to study the Makara found in the Kedaton Temple complex. The scope of the object or Makara itself is located at the Kedaton Temple gate which is in the north of the building and the gate faces north. Makara at Kedaton Temple there are 3 (three) Makara located in the gate of Kedaton Temple. This research aims to determine the variations in shape of the makara of Kedaton temple. The results of this research found variations in the shape of the three makara of the Kedaton temple located in the striking figures and there are also differences with several makara in Sumatra. The makara at the Kedaton temple have distinctive characteristics found in the figures which nominate fauna/animal shapes.
