Abstract

Abstract Evaluation of Environmental Damage Control Policies Due to Unlicensed Gold Mining Activities (PETI) in Tebo Regency. Unlicensed gold mining (PETI) in Tebo Regency has caused significant environmental damage. The government has implemented various control policies, but PETI activities continue to increase every year. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of environmental damage control policies due to PETI and identify factors that affect the implementation of these policies. This study uses a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. Data was obtained through interviews with government officials, PETI actors, and the surrounding community, as well as analysis of applicable policy documents. The results of the study show that the policies implemented have not been effective in suppressing PETI activities. The main factors that cause policy ineffectiveness are weak law enforcement, limited supervision, and the involvement of officials who leak raid information to PETI perpetrators. In addition, economic factors are the main driver for people to continue to do PETI because of the limited number of job alternatives. In conclusion, the PETI control policy in Tebo Regency still faces various challenges in implementation. Therefore, it is necessary to strengthen supervision, transparency of the apparatus, and develop an alternative economy for the community as a long-term solution.
